Day 1

Venice was a favorite of the group with its maze of ally ways, picturesque canals, and walking only streets. The first day was all about finding Hotel La Fenice and meeting our new adventure buddies. During introductions we all went around and mentioned where we had traveled from. It was amazing all the different parts of the U.S. that were represented. We then took a walk around the main areas near our hotel to learn how to navigate the car free streets.

Day 2

On day two we met our local guides for a backstreets tour of Venice. These local guides were very knowledgeable, made it youth friendly for our group, and brought the history to life. These local guides were from the area and experts in history. With the afternoon and evening free to roam the area we chose to see the Campanile bell tower and tour Basilica di San Marco. This also included gelato stops! We then met back up with the tour group for an early evening gondola ride. It felt like we were in a movie!

Day 3

On our third day our local guides took us to the Academia where we continued to learn about the rich history of Venice. We then loaded a private boat and cruised over to the island of Burano. The evening ended with a classical concert unlike anything we had heard before!

  • Base your gelato stops off of pistachio. The grosser pistachio looks the better the location!

  • To avoid large crowds wake up for sunrise runs or walks. The city was empty in the early morning hours.

This is the entire group waiting for our water taxi to start our next leg of the journey, Florence. Three days was just enough to feel like we fully experienced Venice.

Ciao, Ciao, Ciao!
