Day 1

On the way to Rome we stopped at the Tenuta Le Velette winery. While the kids played soccer the adults learned about the family history of the area. The views over looking the area were stunning and the buildings were full of rustic charm. We may have had a few cases sent back to the states. In the evening we walked to dinner from the hotel as a group and visited classics like the Trevi fountain along the way. It is amazing how time continues to move on with these ancient buildings still a part of everyday life in Rome.

Day 2

In the morning we learned how to ride the Metro for our visit to the Vatican City. We were lucky to skip the line but were still cramped while walking around as they let a lot of people in at once. The remainder of the day was spent exploring on our own. We found a quaint spot for lunch and later made our way to a crypt.

Day 3

On our third day in Rome we toured the Colosseum that you grow up learning about and don't fully appreciate the size until seeing it in person. This was the our final day of the trip so last minute shops and sites were visited. In the evening the hotel manager showed Ashley how to start up his old car while we waited for everyone to gather for our walk to dinner. Following dinner we took one last moonlit stroll before heading to back to the hotel.

Ciao, Ciao, Ciao!

Cheers to new friends and grand adventures! Until next time...

  • The headsets the tour provides makes a big difference. It didn't matter where you were standing, you could clearly hear what the guides were saying.
